My Road to Becoming a self-published Author

I had the great pleasure of being interviewed by one of my oldest friends – Kylie Ryan from My Mind Coach. We chatted about my journey from Worry Wart to becoming a best selling self-published author of WORRY: A Worry Warts Guide to Self Mastery and my calling to coach others to overcome their worry and move on with their lives.

Being interviewed by a stranger is one thing. Being interviewed by someone you have been close friends with for over 30 years puts a whole new spin on things.

I should mention that several years ago I completed Kylie’s Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) course when I was at the height of my worry.

I found the tools in that mindset program shifted some of the negative emotions that I was carrying around and helped me to loosen up my worry. I processed it for a little while and then I started writing the book. I engaged a mentor to help me and I genuinely never thought I could do it.

Being an EA (executive assistant) I’m always behind a computer on somebody else’s diary and somebody else’s business, and I thought “Who am I to say that I can write a book?”

I went through the process, ticked all the boxes, made the list of chapters, started drawing the content. Because I am an overthinker and perfectionist, I got to the end of the book and I kept adding “stuff”. I just didn’t know when to stop!

The fact that we’re in the middle of a pandemic makes the topic of “WORRY” universal and I want everyone to hear about it. A lot of people can benefit from overcoming their tendency to worry.

I work with office workers, executive assistants and virtual assistants – people who are supporting other people. They are used to going into offices, being surrounded by people and now they are working from home. They may have lost their job or have all sorts of uncertainties and worries, so launching my book and course couldn’t come at a better time.
